is a rock‐pop‐funk‐soul party band that's totally committed to keeping the dance floor packed. Known as the “Swiss Army Knife” of bands, they perform the classics, modern hits and everything in between in ALL styles of music!


These lifelong musicians display the highest degree of musicianship, while maintaining an intimate connection with their audience. Their influences range from James Brown, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and the Beatles to The Police, Prince, Metallica and Led Zeppelin.  With the ability to navigate vast musical territory, Hipshack is ready to entertain all who come!


These musicians are full-time, professional, working musicians hailing from Charlotte, NC. All band members are college-educated with undergrad and grad degrees in all styles of music.  Hipshack earned the honor of being acknowledged in Modern Bride Magazine as one of 150 best wedding bands for hire in the USA, 2005-2008!


Besides performing hundreds of clubs, colleges, festivals, corporate events and venues throughout the United States, Hipshack's most recent successes include performing throughout the USA for : Microsoft, the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats, US Tennis Association (US Open, Davis Cup and Fed Cup Tournaments), ESPN, the Tennis Channel, appearing in the Farrelly Brothers film, ”Shallow Hal” as well as opening and performing for such artists as Edwin McCain, Michael McDonald, Steely Dan, Mother’s Finest, Charlie Hunter, Ray Charles & Regina Belle.



Scott McCloud. Bass/Vocals

has been performing in the United States as a full time musician for the past 25 years playing every style from jazz, funk, rock, reggae, rhythm & blues to country.

After winning the Downbeat Magazine award for “Best Instrumental Jazz Soloist” (1992) and receiving his BM in Music Performance from Winthrop University (1994), he relocated to Dallas/Ft. Worth to earn his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas (1998).

Upon returning from Texas in 1998, Scott assembled a group of local funk/jazz musicians known as the “Scott McCloud Group/Trio.” The “Scott McCloud Trio” CD was favorably reviewed by Jazz Times Magazine in it’s May 2000 Jam Band issue along with other artists like Medeski Martin & Wood, Galactic and Soulive. In 1999 Scott assembled a new Jazz/Funk/Rock group called Hipshack. Hipshack went on to record two CD’s and perform around the United States with the United States Tennis Association.

Scott can be seen and heard gigging most nights of the week (see Schedule) throughout the southeast  with Hipshack other groups as well as reaching music at Central Piedmont Community College.

Brandon Mann. Guitar/Vocals

is an alumni of Berklee College of Music and holds a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production.  With over 20 years experience in the music industry, he has performed on stage with many world class acts such as Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks Band), Cecil Taylor (Henry Mancini), John Blackwell (Prince, Patti Labelle, Cameo), and Les Hall (Howie Day & the News, Trey Anastasio). 

He has toured with many regionally successful bands opening up for Foghat, Parliament Funkadelic, Little River Band, and Buddy Guy.  He is well versed in many styles of music including:  jazz, funk, rock, pop, classical, and blues. 

With patience and enthusiasm, he enjoys teaching student of all ages and skill levels.  His passion as a teacher is driven by watching students unlock the joy of music.  

In 2014, he returned to the Charlotte, area after a two year stint performing on cruise ships and traveling the world.  Brandon now performs regionally with Hipshack and teaches music lessons in Mooresville, NC at Music Fun.

Chris Allen. Drums/Vocals

 originally from Mocksville, NC where he began playing drums and singing in church during childhood.

While attending Appalachian State University, he performed with such notables as Michael Brecker, Slide Hampton, Herbie Mann, Peter Erskine, and Bill Hanna.Chris also worked as a house drummer and band director at Paramount's Carowinds Theme Park during the late 80's and early 90's which led to a USO tour of the Mediterranean for our troops overseas. In 1993 Chris joined The Fabulous Kays Band and performed regionally and internationally with the group for 15 years.

Chris is currently a freelance musician and producer working in and around the Carolinas.  Chris’s diverse musical background and versatility keep him in demand as a performer as well as educator.

Anna Mann. Keyboard/Vocals

 born in Ukraine. She attended music school for 8 years before she went to music college in Kiev. After receiving a four year degree, she continued her education at the Music Academy of Peter Tchaikovsky.

After five years of deep studying and playing in competitions and festivals, she received her masters in performance. During, and after, her schooling she was playing concerts, teaching private lessons, and teaching in public schools.

In 2012, she started playing classical music on cruise ships where she was to meet her future husband from Charlotte, NC. As they lined up contracts together, she switched from classical to the show band on the ship and discovered a newfound passion for American jazz and pop.

In 2014, she got back to land, married, and now continues to spread her love of music through teaching and performing. 

Anna is now performs regionally with Hipshack and teaches music lessons in Mooresville, NC at Music Fun.
